Five Months

"Jesus said: If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you." Gospel of Thomas

You get up in the morning and go to work. You get a horrible phone call. You go to the hospital.

Your child is dead.

You have a funeral and arrange for a burial.

Your child is dead.

You try to take care of your other son.

Your child is dead.

A month goes by.

Your child is dead.

You go on a vacation planned months before. You come back.

Your child is dead.

You get up in the morning and go to work. You come home.

Your child is dead.

You go out to dinner with friends. You come home.

Your child is dead.

You get up in the morning and go to work. You come home.

Your child is dead.

You celebrate his birthday without him.

Your child is dead.

You get up in the morning and go to work. You come home.

Your child is dead.

You see other people celebrate a holiday.

Your child is dead.

Five months go by.

You get up in the morning and go to work. You come home.

Your child is dead.

I know it's hard, but it would be truly odd if it weren't hard, sometimes.

It's just something you live through, I think.
