I guess everyone remembers where they were last year. I was in a Starbucks with a friend, and her husband called with the news that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. We just went on with our meeting ( we were working together on a Destination Imagination team) and I left. I was glued to the TV for the rest of the day. I'm not sure why I didn't have class.

I told my kids that we just needed to keep going to show that we as a country would not be stopped by terror. I bought ribbons for my Friday clients and for my car.

This year, I finally untied the ribbon from my car. This same ribbon had been on my antenna all year and was beaten up but still hanging in there.

This year, I called my seven year old nephew to wish him a Happy Birthday, even though I had just finished working overtime, picking up my own child, taking him home, cleaning out my car, and dropping said car off at the dealership to get repaired. He needs to know that his birthday can be celebrated even on a day like today. Fortunately, he was quite happy and focused on his cake, which was a Jurassic Park Cake with real toy dinosaurs on top. He loves dinosaurs.

Nice post. It's such a sad day, but a day from which to move on.
