We have a new director, and she seems to be a good manager. Some of her new ideas for streamlining paperwork are very good. She is also very concerned with accountability (she used to be an auditor). I am not too thrilled with her requirement that we have to sign in and out on a little form everyday and note our arrival and departure times. She is asking the secretaries at each campus to fax these attendance sheets to her every week. I sure the secretaries will be less than thrilled at this request. Since they don’t work for her, I am wondering if it will really happen.
The whole thing seems so Mickey Mouse. However, since we are all so spread out, we sometimes can get lost, and some people probably take advantage of that. I just hate the idea of having to sign in and out, especially since the district teachers don’t have to. We had a lot more autonomy last year when the previous director resigned at the end of the first semester, and an interim director took her place. Maybe I won’t be the queen of my classroom this year, after all.
