Personal Hero of the Day

In my quest to improve my optimistic spirit, I have decided to express gratitude daily for someone or something. Today it is one of our secretaries at the co-op. Amid the mass chaos that was the office today, and even though she has way too much to do, she helped me find supplies that I needed, boxes to put them in, and even helped me carry them to my car! So Mrs. P, you are my HERO OF THE DAY!

I was reflecting for a few moments, just today, earlier, about a memory from my childhood, a little song I'd sing when things were overwhelming:

"When I'm troubled and I can't sleep,
I count my blessings instead of sheep,
and I fall asleep, counting my blessings..."

I think it was some crooner hit by Bing Crosby or something, and I had one of those vibrant yellow vinyl 33 rph records that I'd play on my little, stupid children's record player, and it's take me to new places where there weren't any tears.

I still hum that song sometimes and was earlier today; it really does help move the circumstances into the better, when we focus on the good things. It seems so trite, but it's so effective. I know, because I really work at this in my own life and times, and always have. Things can seem so oppressive and impossible, then, just believing in the solutions alone, they begin to appear resolvable.
