The figure is of St. Michael the Archangel, who was famous for fighting a dragon. "And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back." Revelation 12:7. According to this Scripture, the dragon was the devil, but I like to think that St. Michael might have enjoyed a game of Dungeons and Dragons with W and his friends. Also, St. Michael is the patron saint of the dying.
The "platinum flame" reference is to a joke within our family. W, being the oldest child, naturally thought that A was favored and got all the attention. He began calling his brother the "golden" child. So I began calling W the "platinum" child, since he was just as precious to us. I think W enjoyed the joke.
Picture of the tall view showing the vase. The funeral home supplies the first vase of silk flowers. We can then add anything we like.
