How can you tell a car salesman is lying?

Mercury Man's lips were moving when he told us the car was at a rail station in Dallas on Saturday and would be at the dealership today. I was really looking forward to going to see it. Of course, this afternoon he calls and tells us that the car is not there yet. It will supposedly be there tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath.

I went to Barnes and Noble tonight and found out that K-12 educators get a special discount. Very cool, since I found some great materials tonight. I also found some great stuff on the web for Gingerbread man and The Three Little Pigs. I think I will start with the pigs, do Halloween stuff in October, then go on to the Gingerbread man in November/December.
Hopefully, these kids will then be ready for Cinderella in January. Maybe by then I'll have found my copy of Bubba the Cowboy Prince.

Other lesson ideas:

Social Story about eye contact
Look at the AC device with the child who has Retts
Sheep in a Jeep book for little ones
Homework--got to start it!

I just don't have enough time in the day to get all the paperwork tracked plus any lesson planning done. Argh.

But I did put together a list of voice hygiene ideas for one of our teachers who has vocal nodules. I am slowly, slowly, accomplishing some things.

Other discounts...
Half Price books gives a 10% discount.

MJ Designs gives a 15% discount.

Scrapbook Barn in Carrollton gives a 15% discount.

Just ask, show 'em some form of ID that proves you work for a school district, and voila! Discount! :) I have found that all you have to do is ask; the worst they will tell you is no.

Sometime it doesn't have to be a human that lies
My current employer is close enought to an auto manufacturer that we are supposed to get discounts on new cars and trucks. It is advertised that we can get on a special web site and order a vehicle exactly as we want it.

Every word on that web site and every link tries to point you towards just going to a car lot and subjecting yourself to their song and dance. The "real" link to the customization thing keeps moving. At the end, if you manage to find it and fill it out (I did once but didn't buy), you do in fact get a marginal discount but when it comes to the dealership, you just go get it and don't have to deal with the sales force. That would be nice.

I just can't believe we depend on cars so much and yet put up with so much crap from that industry.

Criminals - every one of them.
